A wonderful story that addresses most women issues from our freedom
struggle to the present day, the backdrop being Bengal. Most of the
historical events, social evils and changes in society during the course
of the period have been very vividly brought out.The rationale
behind the occurrences that are viewed as results of the curse are
explained in the closing chapter. The author has tried to be open-minded
and presented a balanced view of the position of women in our society.
